Color Complexity

Lately I've been trying to figure out the meaning of Color Theory and how to actually apply it to my drawings.
You would think it would be easy to slap on some color and call it a day, but no, you actually have to think about which tone of color would look best with that one and where to apply it for the best effects and so on.
It's all a very complicated little process for my little brain and it can't seem compute this idea whenever I'm stuck handling the eyedropper tool. So instead of being able to easily pick out proper colors, which any normal person would think an artist would be able to do without so much as a thought, I sit here as my brain battles out which color I should use for my masterpieceofshit.

Instead of forcing my brain to make the right color decision, I end up going around on the Internet for dreadfully long hours typing in keywords like 'Color Palette' and 'Skin Colors' or something. Once I find a proper swatch as a victim for my coloring, I swipe the little pictures of random colors and dots and add them to my personal collection of randomly assorted 'references.'

From this point on, I harass the crap out of the colors I had kidnapped as I plaster them onto my lineart, completely ignoring the color circle at the top of my screen...

Once the masterpieceofshit is done, I dump the monstrosity into my DeviantArt and pray someone looks at my page, while I run off to hoard little beauties found on the first page of the popular art section and I continue to ignore Color Theory by destroying innocent palettes.
